I like to refer to myself as "formerly flabulous, currently fabulous" because once upon a time I was obese. My weight didn't define my worth as a human being, it was just part of a health problem that I was not controlling; obesity.
In 2002 I decided to stop treating myself like I wasn't worth the effort and joined a national weight loss program. Within one year I had lost over 100 pounds and had completely redefined who I was.
Of course it wasn't as easy as just joining a program and waking up 12 months later in a whole new body! I worked the program, I started exercising, I learned proper nutrition and how to balance my needs with my wants. Most importantly I learned that if I didn't put my health first, it didn't matter what I had to offer others. I wasn't giving anyone the best of who I could be.

Unlike other personal trainers, I have been there, done that, and have the size XXL t-shirts to prove it! I know how challenging it can be to look at the goals of losing weight or taking the first steps of a running program. I was NEVER an athlete until my late 30s! You're not talking to some hardbody who eats celery and protein powder. I'm a real person who still loves chocolate, but also loves the joy that having a healthy body brings me.
